We’re looking for someone who can get down in the floor with the little ones, act silly, and make the kids want to come back to visit again.

Other duties will include circulating books, creating book displays, planning events, translating for patrons, and more.

This position will work 35 hours a week, and get $13/hour. There are paid holidays, paid vacation, paid sick leave, as well as insurance!

Summer 2022 Events: Dive into Summer!

The theme for this summer is the ocean! For preschool kids, in June, we’ll host activities relating to various ocean creatures. We’ll do a “Build-a-Bear” workshop where kids will make their own stuffed animals. We’re hosting performers such as Juggling Jeff and Opera in the Ozarks.

In July, we’re focusing more on Pirates and mermaids, with treasure hunts and boat building. Our performers in July include Mad Science, and Arkansas Game & Fish Commission‘s program about turtles.

Sign up stars on May 23. You must be signed up to get prizes!

What we’re reading today:

Darlene is currently reading Lynette Eason’s Always Watching. We have it both in Large Print and regular Print.

Tiffany is listening to the audiobook of The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz. This book is also available in book format

LeAnn is reading Through a Forest of Stars by David C. Jeffrey. This science fiction book is available at the library!

Starting in May, The library will start a teen/adult book club adventure. Each month will feature a different region of the world. You will get to pick your own book that takes place in that region. After you read the book, we’ll get together and talk about the books we’ve all read, as well as the culture of that region, enjoy some local cuisine, and learn more about that culture through arts, crafts, guest speakers, etc.

National Library Week

The first week in April is National Library week, and the theme this year is “Connect” so we’re connecting to the community by partnering with 3 local restaurants. 10% of the profits from those eateries on those days will be donated to the library. Other local businesses will have Take & Make kits from the library. Take the kit home, complete the craft, and return to the library for a prize!

On Monday, April 4, visit the Cozy Cafe. This is a fairly new cafe near Sonic in Green Forest. They’re open from 10:30 to 5, and have daily specials, sandwiches, salads, and delicious desserts. The Special on Monday will be Lasagna!

On Thursday, April 7, visit the Latin restaurant next to the library: Taqueria El Mompirri. It’s located directly west of the library on Main Street and have yummy tacos, burritos, empanadas, menudo, chilis rellenos, and more.

On Friday, April 8, be sure to order Pizza from 500 East Main Pizza (formerly Pizza Pro). They are open from 11am-9pm and can deliver for a small fee.
