A book review by Darlene

Okay ya’ll it’s me again. I picked up this book at 10 p.m. At 1:00 a.m. I finished the book and hurried to go to sleep as I had to get up the next morning. But it was so good I couldn’t stop reading it!

Alexia Allen is a smoke jumper firefighter with a fire in her childhood that traumatized her family. The father blamed her. Her sister was disfigured and committed suicide. Her brother left home and disappeared. Her father was very mean and abusive. She carried a lot of guilt and anger when she left home.

Fast forward ten years. On a fire call her air tank runs out. But she is trapped inside the building with a small child. Rescued and then suspended for not following the captains order to get out before she found the child. A phone call from an old friend brings her back to her hometown to attend her high school reunion and visit her mother in the hospital. There’s a tearful reunion and a new start to their relationship. If she lives long enough that is. Someone’s trying to kill her. But why? You’ll have to check out the book!!!!

I love this book because she is my favorite author. And this book was very good. There was a lot of red herrings amongst the clues. I thought I had it figured out a couple of times. But I was wrong. Ha-ha! There was even a love story going on behind the scenes.

You wanna know the worst thing? It just ended on a cliff hanger!!!!! I am now reading the 2nd book. You can check it out after tomorrow I’m sure. I will be up half the night trying to find out what’s next!
