Summer Reading Program

Posted on June 1, 2020

Sign up for Summer Reading at here! Or come by the library and fill out a form.

The theme this year is Imagine Your Story, and each week we will focus on different, popular fantasy characters. Imagine your life as these characters and create craft projects, snacks, read books! Help your neighbors and enjoy your summer.

Summer Reading 2020 is going to look a little different this year! Since we cannot meet in groups of 10 or more, we will not be having in-library activities or events, instead, we will be posting videos using Facebook Live each day. Kids events will begin at 10 am, and around noon, we’ll post a link to a youtube video for teens and adults.

We are still asking that you track reading hours, and you will receive credit for each video activity you follow along with and for each hour you read. First, you need to sign up by filling out the form either online or at the library. Then you’ll need to go to the library and pick up a booklet!

You can come into the library to get new books! We offer book bundles to check out, videos, take home craft kits. You must make an appointment by calling us at 438-6700. When you come to the library, you must wear a mask, and can only stay in the building for 1 hour.

Each day at 10 AM, we will host a Facebook Live video. On Mondays, we will have fun crafts, Tuesday is Storytime, Wednesday will be a recipe and snack, Thursday will be a science experiment, and Friday will be a mystery!

You can’t have summer reading without the READING part! We ask that you read for at least 15 minutes each day to help boost your brain function over the summer and strengthen your reading skills. The librarians at Green Forest Library will help you find books that you love if you can’t find anything.

Since we can’t see you as much, we want you to share your photos with us! Send them to [email protected] or share with us on Facebook. We want to see you reading, doing the activities we’ve posted, and pets! We love pets.

And last, but not least, don’t forget to be nice. Look around your community. Do you see a need? Does someone need help with yard work? Do you have an elderly neighbor who might need you help vaccuum the living room? Is there trash in the park that needs to be picked up? Help make your community a better place!

Continue to check our Facebook page for new updates about our opening hours. Right now, we’re doing Curbside Delivery Service each morning, and appointments for book browsing and Computer usage each evening. Call us!
