Friends of the Library

The Green Forest Library needs you to be our friend!

The Friends of the Library is a group committed to supporting the library in the Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals of the library.

  • The Friends will help us with community engagement, reaching out to seek others in the community who can partner with the library for various programs or needs.
  • The Friends will help advocate for the library, raise money to help meet financial needs, and become the volunteer pool for the library when volunteers are needed.

The Main goals of the Friends of the Library are:

  • Expand Public Awareness of the library’s services, facilities, and needs
  • Participate in fund-raising activities to lend support to the library
  • Support the library by stimulating gifts of books, equipment, special collections, magazine subscriptions, endowments and bequests.
  • Volunteer at the library in any capacity needed.

This means that the Friends of the Library will help participate in outreach. When we have a booth at a local fair, like AgriDays, Friends will help staff it. When we get our Bookmobile, a Friend will go with the library staff to run it. Friends will talk to others about the library and share what we do here.

Friends will run fund raisers like book- and bake-sales.

Friends will help garner donations from outsides sources to help pay for new and exiting things in the library that our normal budget cannot cover.

And the Friends will volunteer at the library if we need help shelving books or running the front desk.

If you are interested in learning more and helping the library, come to our Friends Planning meeting on November 1 at 10 AM at the library. We’ll have snacks!
